Terms

Using this site

Open Channel Stats is a dashboard a creator builds for their own YouTube channel. These terms cover using the site and connecting a channel; they are short by design.

Agreeing to these terms

Using the site means accepting these terms and the terms of the services it is built on.

  • Using the site

By using Open Channel Stats you agree to these terms of use. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

  • YouTube and Google

Open Channel Stats uses YouTube API Services. By using it, you also agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Your use of Google services is also subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

What you connect, and control

Connecting is read-only, and visibility stays the owner’s choice.

  • Your own channel, read-only

Connecting signs you in with Google and grants read-only access to your own channel’s data — its catalog and its owner-only analytics. The app reads these to build your dashboard; it cannot upload, edit, or delete anything on your channel.

  • You control visibility

Your dashboard is private — visible only to you, signed in — by default. You may choose to make your own channel public, to share its stats and videos with other creators. You can disconnect at any time, which revokes access and deletes the stored data; the Privacy page describes what is read, stored, and deleted in full.

Using it responsibly

What the site is for, and what not to do with it.

  • What it’s for

Use the site for its purpose: reviewing channels whose owners have connected them.

  • What not to do

Do not attempt to access data that is not yours, disrupt the service, or use it to harass or target anyone.

The basics

What the site promises, what it doesn’t, and how it changes.

  • Provided as is

The site is provided as is, without warranty. Figures shown include projections and other derived measures — estimates, not guarantees, and not endorsed by YouTube or Google.

  • Changes and contact

These terms may be updated; the current version is always the one on this page. Questions go to hello@openchannelstats.com.

The data’s terms

Every channel’s published file points here. The record carries two different rights, and this says which is which.

  • What you may do with it

The tables and prose Open Channel Stats derives — every summary, cohort, forecast, event and catalog table, and the descriptions in _table_catalog and _column_catalog — are released under CC0 1.0: no rights reserved, no permission needed, no attribution required. The figures reproduced from YouTube's APIs — views, impressions, click rate, watch time, average view duration, subscribers, traffic sources — are the channel owner's own analytics, published here with that owner's consent and subject to the YouTube API Services Terms of Service. They are not Open Channel Stats's to place in the public domain, so they are not covered by the CC0 dedication above. Attribution is requested and not required: "Open Channel Stats — openchannelstats.com". Nothing here is a warranty; the record is published as it was measured.

  • Where the files are

Each public channel publishes its own record — a SQLite database, four CSVs, a Markdown brief and the schema documentation. The open data page lists every file and how to read it, and each file states these terms in its own header.

The companion surfaces

These terms sit beside the privacy note and the help pages. Each names a different part of what the site is, what it reads, and what it can and can't say.
